Meet Our Staff.
Dr. Sumlin was born and raised in Charlotte. He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for both his undergraduate and dental studies. He then completed a 2-year General Practice Residency at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. He is active in the American Dental Association, the North Carolina Dental Society, and the South Charlotte Study Club. He was recognized as one of the Top Dentists in Charlotte in 2018 by Charlotte Magazine.
He and his wife enjoy spending time watching their two teenage sons play soccer, traveling, and staying active in a variety of sports.
Hi, my name is Allison Cook, and I am a Dental Assistant at Chestnut Dentistry. After graduating High School in 2000, I went to college at CPCC, and began working at Chestnut Family & Cosmetic Dentistry in 2008. My husband, Aaron and I have a son, named Jackson, who we are very proud of. I enjoy working with and meeting new people.
My goal is to ensure that our patients have a pleasant experience while receiving quality dental care. While away from work, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends as well as cooking, and reading.
Hello, I'm Cheryl York. I graduated from UNC in 1978 with my degree in Dental Hygiene and have been practicing now for over 30 years. My husband and I have raised three wonderful children: a son and 2 daughters. When I am not in the office I enjoy fostering puppies and kittens through the Charlotte Mecklenburg Humane Society, travel, cooking, reading, and scrapbooking.

Hi! My name is Amanda Williams. I have lived in Indian Trail my entire life. After graduating from Sun Valley High School in May of 2002, I began working as a dental assistant, and currently work as a receptionist at Chestnut Dentistry. In my spare time, I enjoy visiting with family, spending time with friends, and going to the gym.
I love my job because I enjoy the interaction with all the patients and getting to see their smiling faces. The state-of-the-art office that Dr. Sumlin has is by far the nicest and most relaxing place I have ever been.
